19 Year Old Arrested Over Fake Tinubu Facebook Page


The chain of fraudsters making a living for themselves off the internet is gradually becoming a menace to the country.
Over the years, there have been reported cases of victims falling into the unfortunate hands of marauding hackers on social media and in this vein, yet another case has been reported.
In a report published by Daily Trust, it has been gathered that a nineteen year-old Mechanical Engineering student of Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro, was arrested by policemen from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Lagos Command for extorting money from members of the public with a fake Facebook page of the All Progressive Congress (APC), national leader, Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to reports, the suspect, Emmanuel Otu is said to be an expert in internet fraud. He was alleged to have posed, at different occasions, as a prominent Nigerian on Facebook and other social media platforms to defraud his victims of various amount of money.
However, his fate will catch up with him as Police detectives led by Abba Kyari arrested him from his hostel in Ozoro, Delta State on May 10, 2015.
Addressing newsmen on Wednesday at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Kayode Aderanti, stated that the 19 year-old suspected fraudster created a Facebook page in the name of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and has been defrauding innocent Nigerians.
Nigeria has been hit with a large number of crime cases in recent times. Of the many types of crime identified globally, one very prominent one that has continued to constitute a great nuisance is internet fraud.
