APC Cheiftain Escapes Assassination
A group of unknown gunmen yesterday stormed the residence of an All Progressives Congress, APC, Chieftain, Dr. Davies Ikanya in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The suspected assassins who attempted to force their way into his residence located along Herbert Macaulay Street, Amadi Flat, Old GRA, Port Harcourt, were reportedly repelled after a serious exchange of gun shots ensued between the gun men and Ikanya’s security men.
Ikanya, who is the state Chairman of the APC, however, narrowly escaped being assassinated.

In reaction, Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Rivers State, Ahmad Mohammed, though claimed not being abreast with details of the attack, he however confirmed the attack took place.
In recent times, Rivers state has witnessed series of attacks and kidnapping of prominent politicians.
The state deputy governor, Tele Ikuru, was recently accused of orchestrating the kidnap and assassination of his former press secretary, Godswill Jumbo. An allegation he later refuted through a press statement issued in Port Harcourt earlier today by the acting press secretary to the deputy governor, Ednah Alete.
