Group Berates Alex Otti For Addressing Abians

A non-governmental organisation in Abia state called the Independent Democrats has berated the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Dr Alex Otti, for his message to Abians on the 24th anniversary of the creation of the state.
According to Daily Independent, the group said the message by Otti to the people of the state is an act of desperation.
Addressing newsmen in Umuahia, the group’s president, Jonathan Ebere, insisted that Otti’s message was uncalled for, and advised the former Diamond bank managing director to wait for his time as governor before embarking on such activity.
He reminded Otti that the state governor has already released a broadcast message on the anniversary, stating that there was no need for  anyone to embark on such activity, except those sending goodwill messages to the government.
He said: “I have never seen such a thing happen in this state since 1999 and I have never seen such a thing anywhere in Nigeria. How can he do such a thing. From what he has done, it has clearly shown that he is desperate in his quest to become the governor of Abia State. I think such desperation ought not to be the case at this point in time.”
“Even though I recognise and accept the fact that his fundamental rights are enshrined in the constitution, but such rights have limits and did not make room for desperate individuals who must bring the entire state in embarrassment.
Meanwhile, thousands of aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party recently dumped the party for APGA in Anambra as the party inaugurated its new executive members in the state.
