Lagos Close Markets, Shops For Tradition

The adherents of African traditional religion who marked “Isese Day”, literarilly brought business activities to a halt in some parts of Lagos state.
It was gathered that market women out of fear of harassment, intimidation and extortion by followers of masquerades decided to lock-up their shops at Ijagemo, Ije Ododo and Ijegun.

It was observed that trading activities were also halted around Ikotun and Idimu while a few shops opened.
A market woman in Mushin, Mrs. Ahmed Okedara in a telephone chat disclosed that “Isese Day” is a very sacred in the area.
