Politics Is An Evangelical Call - Mimiko

Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo state has condemned beliefs that politics is about cultism.
According to him, his purpose in politics is to serve God and humanity, This Day reports.
The governor made these remarks in Akure over the weekend while addressing guests at a  special thanksgiving of Hon. Banji Okunomo, the state Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Governor Mimiko urged good Christians to also join politics to be able to serve their people meticulously for the betterment of the society and Nigeria as a whole.
He said: “Thank God that I belong to the generation of politicians that serve God. I’m bold to say that I don’t serve any other God apart from God Almighty and he has been helping me in my political career.
“Politics is an evangelical calling and not about what people think that you must belong to occultic group. It’s an opportunity to serve the Lord.”
Meanwhile, Ondo state government has raised the alarm over alleged plans by“enemies of the state” to embark on character assassination, outright falsehood and massive propaganda.
According to the state government, it has uncovered a planned attack, which had been scripted to begin with a series of petitions to be written against Governor Olusegun Mimiko.
