20306 Lagos Govt Cancels Movement Restriction During Sanitation

The Lagos State Government has said that the restriction of movement during the May monthly sanitation exercise which is scheduled for this Saturday has been cancelled.
Lagos State Commisioner for Environment, Mr. Tunji Bello

The Lagos state State Commissioner for the Environment, Tunji Bello said that the cancellation is in order to ensure hitch-free movement for inauguration ceremony coming up both in Lagos and Abuja and to also allow normalcy return to the roads after the recent strike action by fuel marketers.
He however assured Lagosians that next month’s cleaning exercise will definitely hold.
The Commissioner further stated that LAWMA and other Waste MANAGERS/PSP will be available to remove the waste generated during the cleaning exercise.
He also said that, “As we gradually approach the peak of the rainy seasons Lagosians should dispose their waste through accredited operators, and avoid dumping wastes in drains.
But it must be emphasized that the State is also intensifying its mid-rain deflooding programme in order to reduce to minimum the incidence of flooding in the state”.
