Chief Nyesom Wike, the immediate past minister of state for education was seen doing something unusual recently in the Rivers state capital, Port Harcourt.

Wike who recently won the Rivers state gubernatorial election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was seen walking hand in hand with his beautiful wife.

The scene attracted many people who trooped out to have a glimpse of their governor-elect and their prospective first lady who will be charged with steering the affairs of the state come May 29.

The victory of Chief Wike in the Rivers gubernatorial election has been opposed by the All Progressives Congress (APC). The party has vowed to upturn the defeat they suffered at the hands of the PDP in the electoral tribunal. This fueled rumours that Nyesom Wike was tinkering with the idea of defecting to the APC to save his skin.

However, Rivers state chapter of the PDP dismissed the insinuation that Nyesom Wike is making moves to defect to APC.
