Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state |
Speaking to Journalists in Makurdi, the state capital, Agbo Emmanuel, the Benue state chairman of the party, faulted Governor Samuel Ortom led administration for dissolving the councils, saying such action was in total disregard to the rule of law.
Emmanuel, according to Vanguard, said the caretaker committees were earlier appointed by the previous administration in accordance with the necessary laws which allows them a tenure of six months.
He alleged that the APC administration had simply cut short the tenure of the caretaker committees who were half way into the six months tenure because they were appointed by the PDP administration.
This is not the first time the PDP will be accusing the ruling party of exhibiting dictatorial tendencies, last month, PDP raised the alarm over alleged plots by the ruling party to influence the decisions of election tribunals in various parts of the country for selfish purposes.
It claimed the APC had already put plans in place in Akwa-Ibom, Abia, Rivers and Delta with the aim of compromising the decision of the election tribunals in those states.
