“I Belong To Everybody And Belong To Nobody”, Gov Reacts

More reactions have continued to trickle in following President Muhammadu Buhari’s utterance at last Saturday’s swearing-in ceremony.
It would be recalled that at his inauguration, President Buhari said: “I belong to everybody and belong to nobody.”
Reacting to this utterance, Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa state described the statement as an indication that the president would be fair to all sections of the country.
In a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, in Yenagoa, Dickson congratulated President Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, on their successful inauguration last week, wishing them success as they pilot the affairs of the country in the next four years, Daily Post reports.

He assured the newly sworn-in president and his vice will get the support and active collaboration of the government and people of the Bayelsa state in the interest of the nation.

Gov Dickson also pledged that the state government would work closely with the Buhari administration and rally support for him, so the people can remain committed to the unity, stability and prosperity of Nigeria.

The statement reads in part: “The Government of Bayelsa State wishes President Muhammadu Buhari and Prof. Yemi Osinbajo a successful tenure as President and Vice President of our great nation, Nigeria.
“As a government, we appreciate the fact that only a man with a firm vision and love for his country could undertake such a long journey, notwithstanding the rigours of preceding unsuccessful attempts.
“ Your doggedness and uncompromising posture of always standing for what is right, just, equitable and fair, will no doubt, serve as key drivers in your administration’s quest to deliver on the various lofty electoral promises.
“It is against this backdrop that we wish both you and your able vice, good health, vigour and the wisdom to pilot the affairs of the nation in the next four years.
“In the same vein, we also join millions of Nigerians and the international community in commending and applauding the immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan for a smooth transition”.
Meanwhile, Governor Dickson has signed the ‘Widows and Widowers’ Protection Bill, 2015′ at the state government house,Yenagoa into law following passage by the state House of Assembly.
