The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe, has suspended its state Chairman, Barrister Magaji Doho and seventeen other members of the party.
The members were suspended for anti-party activities on Monday by a seven-man committee set up by the Gombe state stakeholders of the party after investigations into the anti-party activities of some executive members of the party.
According to the Daily Trust, Chairman of the committee, Umar Saifuddeen, who briefed journalists said the members were suspended based on the party mandate given to them.
Saifuddeen detailed the suspension process saying: “Letters of query were issued to the affected members on Saturday, 16th May and they were given 72 hours within which to reply.
“However, up to this morning (Monday), none of the queried executive members have replied to the queries. This indeed, is itself a gross misconduct that calls for serious disciplinary measures.”
Barrister Doho however denied any knowledge of this. He said: “I don’t know of any query or any committee and I didn’t receive any query.”
Meanwhile the APC at the national level is at a crossroads as regards the calls for the resignation of the national leader of the party, John Odigie-Oyegun.
While some members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party are calling for Oyegun’s head, others want to see the man who made the party the ruling one in the country continue.
Just last week, the party held a make or mar meeting to resolve the ongoing impasse within the party as a result of the crisis rocking the National Assembly.
