The sacked Chief Security Officer (CSO) of President Muhammadu Buhari will have cause to smile again after his recall to the presidential villa although in a different capacity.
Abdurahman Mani, who was relieved of his position last week for allegedly involving in some shady deals, would now be Buhari’s chief detail.
Sources close to the seat of power told the Nigerian Tribune that the former CSO was already on his way to his new posting in Ebonyi state when he was recalled back to the villa.
It was gathered that some of the close associates of Buhari pleaded on behalf of Mani which made the president change his mind about his sack.
Buhari was reportedly reminded of Mani’s loyalty and dedication throughout the course of the presidential campaign. The president was also reminded that the former CSO had served him for four years before he was elected as Nigeria’s number one citizen.
Some of the associates also moved to remove the president’s aide-de-camp, Lieutenant-Colonel M.L. Abubakar, whose disagreement with Mani caused the latter been relived of his duties.
Mani’s troubles started when on June 26, he issued a memo to counter a June 24 memo by Abubakar which
announced the removal of DSS operatives from at least 10 critical duty posts in the Villa, as well
as close body protection of the president.

The memo, expressly instructed the operatives to ignore the earlier memo by the ADC.
Buhari had also fired Widi Liman, his administrative officer, who allegedly acted with Mani in turning securing appointments with the president into a “business venture”.
