PDP Chieftain Shot Dead In Port Harcourt

A top official of the People Democratic Party (PDP), Olala Osondu, has been shot dead in Rivers state.
Daily Sun reports that the incident occurred on July 21, Tuesday, at Osondu’s residence off Ada-George road in Port Harcourt.
Osondu, who was the PDP’s secretary general in Ahoada West local government area of the state, was assassinated in front of his compound as he arrived from a meeting a few minutes after midnight.
A source, who pleaded for anonymity, said that the deceased’s wife heard two gunshots outside their compound after sighting her husband’s car. Shortly after the gunshots, the woman rushed to the street where she found her husband in a pool of blood.
The suspects immediately left the crime scene without taking any item from the victim.
While briefing journalists, Chris Ezike, the state commissioner of police, confirmed the incident and noted that investigations were on to track down the perpetrators of the crime.
Earlier this month, a group of unknown gunmen assassinated a PDP cheiftain, Atoza Hidan, and 12 others in Katsina Ala area of Benue state. The politician was said to have been killed in the presence of his police orderly and his assistant.
