PPMC To Sanction Oil Marketers

The Petroleum and Product Marketing Company (PPMC) has expressed dissatisfaction at the activities of some oil marketers who allegedly sabotaged and diverted products meant for Abuja to other states.
In Abuja, just like every other major cities across the country, long queues have resurfaced in most of the petrol stations due to scarcity of the products.
PPMC found out that despite huge allocation of the products to Abuja, they are not readily available.
Worried by the source of products being sold on the Suleija/Kaduna road, PPMC launched its investigation and discovered that the products allocated to Abuja were being diverted to Suleija and Kaduna where they are sold at high rates.
A source in PPMC revealed that 111 trucks were released into Abuja city last Thursday but with only few petrol stations dispensing fuel.
“111 trucks can refuel a total of 73,260 vehicles at the rate of 50 litres per vehicle. This week alone, we have dispatched 386 trucks inside Abuja alone and that can refuel 254,760 vehicles at the rate of 50 litres per vehicle. This is sabotage” the source laments.
PPMC is said to have invited some security agencies to clamp down on the defaulting marketers.
The scarcity of petrol across the country has compelled most motorists in dare need to patronise black market operators who have seized the opportunity to make big gains.
As at when this report was filed, petrol sold for N100 per litre in most fuel stations while it went for N120 and above in the black market.
