People wept uncontrollably as a trailer killed a man, wife and son in Anambra state on Sunday July 12, The Nation Reports.
The incident happened between 12 noon and 1 pm at Esther Obiakor junction in Agu Awka along the Onitsha-Enugu expressway as sympathizers surrounded the scene of the accident.
Some sympathizers could not hold back tears as it flows freely on their cheek and while others were seen lamenting, wailing and cursing the trailer driver for being the cause of the accident.
It was gathered that the trailer driver took to his heel immediately after the accident. The accident involved a ash-coloured Toyota Camry car and a trailer with registration number LSR 897XQ.
According to an eyewitness who identified himself as Chijiuoke, he said that people asked the trailer driver to stop speeding, but he refused to slow down.
He added that the Camry vehicle was heading towards Enugu direction and trying to cross the other way at the junction when the trailer lost control and fell on the car.
The car owner, Okechukwu Odinigwe, was said to have died on the spot along side the wife and the eldest son. According to information at the scene of the accident which showed that the man hails from Urunnebo village in Enugwu Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area of the State.
However, three of the kids, a six –month old baby boy, four –year old brother and seven-year old sister narrowly escaped death.
The surviving children were rushed to Regina Caeli Hospital in Awka for treatment by men of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC).

The children were said to be battling for their lives at the at the intensive care unit of the hospital.
The state police spokesperson Uche Eze, confirmed the incident promising that the command is investigating the cause of the accident and identities of the victims.
The Anambra governor, Willie Obiano, has condoled with the family of the victims of the ghastly motor accident. He promised to foot the medical bills of the surviving children.
Obiano vowed to make the state roads safe by regulating the movement of heavy duty vehicle within the state.
