The Nigerian Customs Service says it has confiscated illegal goods worth N545 million, including some bullet proof vehicles in just one week.
PM News reports that this came after the former acting comptroller general of customs; Dr. John Atte addressed customs officials and introduced a ‘Quick Fix’ policy.

Mr David Dimka, said this on Thursday, August 27 in Owerri and added that the agency also made five arrests.
Ate explained that the purpose of the operation was to make the customs service more efficient while also maintaining revenue collection.
According to Dimka, the goods were impounded along the Aba/Eleme axis and the breakdown was about 85 bales of second hand clothing with Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N8.16 million and 373 bales of used school bags with a DPV of N22.47 million, totaling N30.6 million.
Also impounded were 13 vehicles and Dimka said that although a lot of Nigerians were delighted with the effort, smugglers were still making plans to disturb their effort.
He said that customs official were now better trained and advised Nigerians to desist from consuming food that didn’t have NAFDAC certification as they could not verify how long those food items had been stored in the warehouses.
He also warned against the consumption of imported chicken as their method of preservation was injurious to human health.
He urged Nigerians to assist the service by informing customs officials of any smuggling and promised that such information would be treated with confidentiality.
In a related development, Nigeria deported a Chinese businessman who was operating illegal warehouses in Kano.
