Enormous Tiger Shark Caught In Australia

Looking like something out of the horror movie, a huge tiger shark was caught by terrified fishermen off the Australian coast this week.

Photos of an enormous fish first were posted to Facebook by Geoff Brooks, although no details about how or when the creature died were given. Commenting on the images Brooks said: “As far as I’m aware. It was a kill order on a shark here on the far north coast that was identified as being responsible for a local attack. And yes – it’s real.”

The beast is believed to be at least 6 meters long and could weigh more that 380kg may have been caught in nets surrounding the Lennox Head area, one of the most popular surfing spots. A fisherman identified only as Matthew claims he was among those who participated in fishing and even managed to take its teeth as souvenirs.

“I was the one that took that photo and I was the one that caught that fish. I was fighting the hammerhead shark and he [the tiger shark] came up and swallowed it,”Matthew said.
The tiger shark is often found close to the coast, mainly in tropical and subtropical waters throughout the world. The tiger shark has a reputation for eating anything, fish, seals, birds, squid, turtles, and sea snakes to dolphins and even other smaller sharks. The tiger shark is considered a near threatened species due to finning and fishing by humans.
