Ex-Speaker Busted After Fayose’s Indictment

A fresh development has been conveyed contrary to reports that Governor Ayo Fayose pleaded with Femi Bamisile, a former speaker of the Ekiti state House of Assembly to re-join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to Bolaji Jeje, a friend to Bamisile, the claim by the former speaker that the governor begged him to return to the PDP is “a shameless lie,” The Punch reports.
Jeje said that he facilitated Bamisile’s meeting with Governor Ayodele Fayose.
Jeje also alleged Bamisile approached him to facilitate his return to the PDP and that they subsequently met with the governor at the Eko Hotels and Suite, Lagos, on August 17, 2015, at about 12:30am.
He said: “We were together in Eko Hotels till around 3am and I challenge Bamisile to deny these facts.
“It was at the Eko Hotel meeting that the meeting held on Sunday was slated, with the governor insisting that traditional rulers must be part of the meeting and it must be made known to the press.
“Bamisile was the one who begged Governor Fayose at the Eko Hotel meeting and the agreement reached was for him (Bamisile) to return to the PDP this week because he said he was going to travel abroad next week Monday.”
However, responding swiftly after the allegation, Bamisile said Jeje was being used by Fayose to rubbish his image.
“Though Jeje is my friend, but under this context, he is being used against me by the government. I left the party during the tenure of former President Goodluck Jonathan. This is almost a year that he got into office. Those who wanted to contest elections have virtually got everything. If I should join, what would he give me now?
“I have said it repeatedly that I can’t work with Fayose. What is my gain in going to the PDP, a party that is not controlling the Federal Government? Fayose is a man of shady character. I can’t have anything to do with him.”
Femi Bamisile, used to be a member of the PDP but defected to the APC barely a week before the June 21, 2014, governorship election, following irreconcilable differences with Fayose.
He had also stated that the APC will not rely on the federal government to defeat Governor Fayose in the 2018 governorship poll, adding that the party would go all the way to win over the electorate.
