The Sun reports that the event was earlier scheduled for August 28, but later moved to September to ensure that Dickson does not violate the Electoral Act based on the state governorship time-table released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The director of publicity, Bayelsa Restoration Campaign Organisation, Mr. Jonathan Obuebite, said in a statement that Dickson decided to declare after consulting widely with critical stakeholders as well as several pressures from youths, opinion leaders and various grassroots groups.
He said the event slated for the Samson Siasia sports complex would be attended by supporters of the restoration team within and outside the state.
The director explained that majority of the people of Bayelsa had decided to throw their weight behind Dickson in order to give him the opportunity to continue with his good work which guarantees good governance, security and peaceful atmosphere, economic and infrastructure development.
Obuebite advised the people of the state from the 105 wards to come out in their large numbers and demonstrate their support, adding that the governor enjoys grassroots support in the state.
Meanwhile, Dickson has expressed confidence of clinching a second term in office, firmly stating that there are no threats to his second term ambition in the forthcoming Bayelsa guber election.
