In the early hours of Sunday, August 16, E’Dena Hines was brutally murdered by a 30-year-old man, Lamar Davenport.
Davenport and Hines were in a relationship before her death.
The incident took place at about 3AM on West 162nd Street in Washington Heights, a neighborhood in Northern Manhattan.
Davenport displayed tendencies of a deranged man as he cut through the late 33-year-old, who was the step granddaughter of acclaimed Hollywood actor, Morgan Freeman.
Police reports say he was standing over Hines’ body after the gory act.
He has since being taken into custody by the New York police, as well as checked for psychological troubles.
The Police say he has had at least six prior arrests before now, The New York Post reports.
Davenport has been nabbed for illegal possession of cannabis before now, amongst other things.
He has two kids from a previous partner as Hines never had any with him.
He is also said to be an aspiring actor and musician. He goes by the stage name ‘Lyric’.
A source close to the pair says they had both been out on a date the night before the incident, adding that they appeared ‘ecstatic’ in the hours leading to her untimely death.
