Man Hangs Himself Due To N18,000 Bank Loan

Tragedy struck in the Oke Onitea area of Osogbo following the shocking discovery of the lifeless body of Adekola Busari who had apparently hanged himself.
The Punch reports that the unfortunate incident occurred on Tuesday, August 18 when the body of the 27 year old man was discovered by his wife.
It was reported that Busari had taken a loan from a micro finance bank and had been unable to repay the money. His wife, Bidemi had paid part of the debt reducing it to just N18,000 left to be paid before he took his own lie. It was however not clear if the debt was the only reason he had committed suicide.
The young widow lamented that her husband did not show any indication that he wanted to end his life even though he still had N18,000 left to repay.
“My husband went out to watch a football match last night and stayed till 11pm and when he came back home, I bought the food he ate. We chatted, prayed and went to bed without any indication that he was planning anything.
“Though he was in debt, I have been paying the debt for the loan he took from a micro finance bank. So I don’t understand why he killed himself.
“I woke up to urinate and discovered that the wrapper that I used to cover our two year-old child was missing, only to find out that it was the wrapper that my husband used to hang himself.”
Mr. Babatunde Ojeniyi, divisional officer of the Nigerian security and civil defence corps confirmed the incidence but said that traditional rites had to be performed before the body could be removed.
He said: “We have informed the Water and Environmental Department at the local government area, which is responsible for removing the corpse. But we were told that certain traditional rites would be performed before the body could be taken down.”
In a similar development, Festac area of Lagos state was thrown into a state of confusion after Ugochukwu, a 23-year-old admission seeker, was found hanging in his apartment.
