A helicopter flying in from Port-Harcourt owned by Bristow Helicopters crashed into the Oworosoki end of the Lagos lagoon yesterday, 12 August, 2015 .
Reports say that a total of 12 people were on board when the helicopter went down. The co-pilot of the helicopter, Peter Bello, is 26 years old. He has still not been found. In the 12-seater helicopter, 4 persons were confirmed dead while 6 were rescued alive but Peter and one other person have not been found by divers.
Reports say they were coming from the Niger Delta where they had gone for an oil-related inspection and were heading back to Lagos when they suffered the mishap. Friends say Peter, who is also a media photographer, had been planning for his sister’s wedding which is to hold soon.
The Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) has begun a probe into the crash. This comes just as local divers and fishermen in Oworonshoki commenced searching desperately for the two remaining passengers.
