MNJTF To Deploy 8,700 More Soldiers Against Boko Haram

Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin recent visit to Chad Republic was to deliberate alongside other members of Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) on the deployment of 8,700 soldiers against terror group, Boko Haram.
 The Chiefs of Defense Staff from the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) member countries met in N’Djamena, the capital of Chad Republic nd beat out the details of the needed deployment to fight Boko Haram.
A statement released by the Defense Headquarters said: “General Olonisakin has been working round the clock towards actualizing the Presidential directive to end Boko Haram terrorists’ activities within three months.
“To this end, the meeting discussed modality for the deployment of joint force to 2 command posts in Nigeria and Cameroon. Also, officers seconded to the MNJTF in N’Djamena were ordered to report immediately to their post, as operation at the Force Headquarters has commenced.
Present at the meeting were the Chiefs of Defence Staff from the LCBC member countries, MNJTF Commander and other senior military delegates. The LCBC members’ countries are Cameroon, Chad, Niger, Nigeria and Benin Republic.
The member states of the MNJTF (Cameroun, Nigeria, Chad and Niger) have been in a joint fight against terror group boko Haram which has sworn allegiance to ISIS and had killed hundreds of people through suicide bombings in the last three months.
