Alhaji Aliko Dangote, chairman of Dangote group and Africa’s richest man has foretasted that in few years to come, Nigeria will be self-sufficient in commodities and not have to rely on importation icome, PM News reports

Dangote said this on Monday, August 24, while in a meeting with the secretary general of the United Nations, Ban Ki Moon.
Dangote said Nigeria would soon become the largest exporter of petroleum product and fertilizer in the world and declared his unrelenting effort to contribute his quota in making it a reality.
He said his focus was not to be known as the richest Nigerian alone but to also be known as a contributing factor in the development of the country and subsequently, bettering the life of its citizens.
He commended the focus of President Muhammadu Buhari to fight corruption, citing that the presence of corruption in the system would only make the developmental projects futile.
“War on corruption will enable government to have better outcome on any naira or dollar earned or spent,” he said.
He said the government was promoting the diversification of the economy and that this would enhance growth and also create more job opportunities. He added that the business community would support the government’s effort by focusing on the non-oil sector so as to diversify exportation and also eliminate the over reliance on oil.
“We are committed to improving the economy in a responsible and sustainable way,”he said.
Ban Ki Moon had earlier urged businessmen in Nigeria to focus on developing the country through the Sustainable Development Goal. He added that development should be all inclusive as no country could solve its own problems alone.
“No country or institution can solve its challenge alone; we must harness the power of the private sector and civil society for share of solution to the complex challenges.
“We need to build all inclusive global partnership with the future of accountability and for share of responsibility; we must leverage on our comparative strength, capacities and resources to achieve meaningful result,” he said
In a similar development, Edgar Lungu, the president of Zambia, said that Dangote business expansion across the continent was worthy of emulation by African businessmen in the task of continental development.
