Nigeria ans Stoke City striker, Osaze Odemwingie, has been ruled out of action for the next two to three weeks due to an hamstring injury sustained in training on Thursday, the club has announced.
Stoke City boss, Mark Hughes lamented the latest set-back for the striker who has stuggled to remain fir since the end of the 2014 world cup.
He told a pre-match conference on Thursday: “Unfortunately Peter has got a hamstring strain and is likely to miss the next couple of weeks. It’s disappointing for him because he has worked tremendously hard throughout pre-season.”
Odemwingie was barely on the pitch in the 2014/15 campaign. He suffered a knee ligament damage in the 1-0 triumph over Manchester City last August 2014.
Odemwingie returned to action in the 2015/2016 season when he came off the bench against Liverpool in last Sunday’s EPL curtain-raiser but his latest injury means he will not be available for the trip to face Tottenham Hotspurs on Saturday.
Others injured in the premier league include, former Barcelona forward Bojan Krkic who is just recovering from his latest injury, Thomas Rosicky, Jack Wilshere of Arsenal, Steven Pieneer and Leighton Baines of Everton Jordie Clasie and Ryan Bertrand of Southampton, Enner Valencia of West ham and Fabian Delph of Manchester City.
