The chairman of the panel, Adegboye Akintunde, while presenting the committees’ findings on Wednesday, August 5, plenary said the allegation of corruption contained in the petition were based on rumour.
The Punch reported that the panel report which was presented before the House, revealed that the judge violated the code of conduct of judicial officers which forbade them from coming out public on issues.
Akintunde added that Oloyede, being a serving judge in the state, was not qualified to forward the petition to the lawmakers saying after the House accepted her petition, he wondered why she failed to appear before the panel investigating the case.
He added that even her counsel, Lanre Ogunlesi (SAN) who represented the judge before the panel, could not substantiate the allegations of corruption against the governor with any evidence.
Recall that the petitioner had accused the governor of corruption and called on the House of Assembly to commence impeachment process against him. The House adopted the report following the motion seeking the adoption of same by all the lawmakers who spoke on it.
