A ghastly motor accident occurred this morning along Ijebu Ode – Benin expressway, just before Babcock University junction, killing the driver.
The deceased who wore a black pair of jeans with blue-white T shirt was seen in a pool of blood.
It was reliably gathered that the incident was a lone-accident which occurred as a result of over-speed.
Narrating the incident on phone, an eyewitness, who does not want his name to be mentioned, disclosed that the incident occurred around 6:17am today.
“We were in a car coming from Ijebu Ode to Sagamu, there was a red vehicle going before of us and it was only the driver that was inside the over speeding car. You need to see the way the guy was driving as if he is rushing to catch up with an appointment, suddenly, we just saw him swerving on the road and in a twinkle of an eye, it is over.
“We hurriedly parked our car and rushed to the scene, hoping that we may still rescue him, but he hit his head and the blood was too much.
“Other people parked their vehicles and when we discovered that the guy is dead, we just had to leave while other people were still there watching.
“A man was making frantic efforts to call the police, but as at the time we left the scene, the call had not gone through. With what people were saying there, it seems he dozed off a bit while on high speed and the end comes,” the eyewitness explained.
When our correspondent contacted a police source at Ilishan Remo, who confirmed the accident, hinting that the information just got to them around 7:00 am and the team had been to the scene.
“I don’t know what to say, we received a call and Oga has sent some officers to the area. They just called to confirm that one lifeless body was seen around a red car.
“I don’t know anything again until they return from the scene and make their entry. Please, contact the appropriate quarters for details later in the day,” the source said.
