Police Apprehend Alleged Killers Of Enugu Traditional Ruler

Ogbuife Chinedu, popularly known as Osama bin Laden, has been apprehended by the police over his alleged involvement in the murder of Igwe Peter Onuoha, the traditional ruler of Nkerefi community in Nkanu East local government area, Enugu state.
Igwe was reportedly killed when hoodlums invaded his palace on July 11. A couple, Ejike Uzor, his wife, Evelyn Uzor, and one other person, Daniel Ogbu, also died in the horrible palace attack.
Bin Laden was arrested alongside another suspect, Ifeanyichukwu Eze, alias ‘Nwa nwanyi agbala’, on August 4, Monday. Both suspects are from the community.
Another suspect, Sunday Agbara, who was earlier apprehended by the police on July 30, had confessed that the youths of the community planned to kill the traditional ruler over alleged “human rights abuses.”
Bin Laden, who is a carpenter by profession, was also reported to be a marijuana dealer. And the other suspect, Eze, is a furniture maker.
It was also learnt that the two suspects were apprehended in a neighboring community, where they seek refuge having killed their Igwe.
The spokesman for the Enugu state police command, Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the development and assured that, the police were on the trail of the other suspects.
“The arrests were made possible following the arrest of one of the gang’s kingpins while others involved in the killing of the monarch are being trialed by the police. The suspects who hail from Nkerefi are helping the police in their investigations,’’Amaraizu said.
