Chinedu Efugh, the captain of the Nigeria Premier League side Heartland FC escaped death on Wednesday, August 19, after he was involved in an auto crash.
According to a report on Sporting Life, Efugh said a Toyota Corolla car ran into his Camry 2.4 on his way home.
The accident, which occurred around 9pm on Wednesday night, saw one of three cars going in the same direction at high speed lose control and hit Efugh’s Camry 2.4 before spinning off to damage two more cars parked in a near-by compound.
Fortunately, Efugh escaped the incident with only a minor cut close to his eye. The driver of the Corolla also miraculously escaped death.
Narrating his ordeal, Efugh said: “Thank God for keeping me alive after the horrible accident.
“I was driving home from my friend’s place around 9pm, when three guys on convoy bashed my car,” he recounted. “The last car was the one that hit my Camry – it happened so fast but I am grateful that nothing happened to me except for the small caught close to my eyes.
“The driver of the other Toyota Corolla accepted to pay the bills to repair the other vehicles involved in the accident but I had to relief him of the burden of mine.”
Efugh is expected to be fit enough for Heartland’s week 25 Nigeria Premier League match against Abia Warriors at the weekend.
The Heatland FC captain’s accident comes just two weeks after Charles Offordile, the head coach of Nigeria Premier League side Enugu Rangers, was shot by unknown gunmen.
