Sad! Truck Kills Pedestrians In Ogun

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has confirmed that two pedestrians were killed by a truck in Ota, Ogun State.
The truck was said to have crossed a road in Ota, around 3.45pm. The Unit Commander of FRSC, Mr. Olonisaye Olufemi said that the truck with reg. no KRD 571 XM, was travelling from Abeokuta to Lagos before it encountered brake failure and ran into three pedestrians.
“The three victims were rescued and rushed to State Hospital in Ota for an extensive treatment while two of the victims died later after few hours and were taken to the mortuary,’’ he said.
He however advised truck owners and other articulated vehicles to ensure that their vehicles are well maintained before putting them on the road.
He further warned that the drivers of such vehicles should adhere strictly to speed limit. “It must be stated that the owners of these tippers must ensure their proper maintenance before putting them on the road in order not to endanger other people’s lives. Again, their drivers must also maintain 50km per hour speed limit for their kind of vehicles.”
He further enjoined pedestrians to take necessary precautions before crossing roads
“People should not just dash across the road without observing the necessary precautions. It is dangerous to do so,’’ he warned.
