Senate Crisis: Senators Commend Saraki

Some senators have lauded Senate President, Bukola Saraki’s patriotic and non-partisan approach in solving the lingering leadership crisis and committee constitution in the upper chamber of the legislature.
Senator Aliyu Abdullahi representing Niger North District, has lauded Saraki for his broad-mindedness patriotic and non-partisan approach he embraced in constituting the committees of the house.
The Senator noted that apart from always reaching out to members of the Unity Group, who did not support him during his election, the Senate President has also proved that, it is imperative and his responsibility to carry all senators along, not minding the party they belong. He also commend the Senate President’s magnanimity for giving the chairmanship of one of the two influential committees he has constituted so far to a member of the Unity Group what was against him.
Senator Jide Omoworare from Osun East, a member of the Unity Forum was last Wednesday named the chairman of committee on Rules and Business. And Senator Kabiru Marafa, the spokesman of the group, was named a member of the same committee.
Abdullahi informed that “the Rules and Business Committee is the engine room of the Senate that directs the activities of the legislative house. That position given to Omoworare is so influential that it is next to being in the leadership of the Senate.”
“It only shows that this Senate President is working for peace and stability of the institution. This is just one example of the several efforts he is making to ensure there is peace in this Senate and I only hope that all my colleagues will reciprocate his gesture,” Abdullahi said.
Also speaking on the Senate President’s peace moves, Senator Peter Nwaboshi, from Delta State said, “
I am indeed thrilled by the Senate President’s decision to fully reconcile the entire Senate. He is really reaching out to all and sundry and trying to carry every body along. I think he is the right man for the job now. That is why he is being broadminded in his choice of committee members,” he commends.
Ogun Central’s Senator Lanre Tejuosho, praised Saraki for laying emphasis on merit and ability in choosing which Senator serves in which committee or handles what assignment.
Two days ago, questions were raised on whether the leadership problem in the Senate has ended or not as Five senators belonging to the All Progressives Congress (APC) have filed a suit, challenging the election of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu.
