A 35-year-old politician, Moses Siasia has said he would officially enter into the Bayelsa state governorship race on Saturday,. August 22, 2015, in the ancient town of Kayama, Bayelsa State.
Speaking on why he chose Kayama to declare his intention for the gubernatorial post, Moses said his “choice of Kayama is historic because of its significant importance in the formation of Bayelsa state where the Kayama Declaration was moved for the liberation of the Ijaw race and i have chosen to declare in Kayama because i acknowledge the need to reconnect with the historical roots of the Ijaw people.”
According to a Naij.com source, the declaration will take place at the Kayama town square with over 15,000 Bayelsans expected to listen to the youngest gubernatorial aspirant in the history of the state.
” Thousands of youth, women and major pro-democracy and Ijaw liberation agitation groups will be present at the declaration. The official declaration is seen by many as another historic day in Bayelsa State probably because of the choice of the historic town of kayama as the venue,” he said.
The popular politician is expected to share his agenda with the people of Bayelsa state as he declares his gubernatorial ambition on Saturday. He is also expected to tell Bayelsans how he can take them out of poverty, turn their fortunes around, create the much needed jobs for the teeming youth populace since he has always emphasized that he will inspire hope to the youth and provide care for the elderly.
Education is most likely to be one of the main focus of his speech at the Saturday’s declaration. After almost 16years of failed promises by the political class, Siasia is coming with so much promise of hope.
Many believe Moses’ greatest advantage as he goes into the race is the fact that he is seen as someone different who has not gotten his hands soiled. He is seen as a very credible young Bayelsans who has created jobs in his private businesses and who is coming home to do same.
Meanwhile, Moses recently concluded plans to dump the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state on Friday 21st of August, 2015 with over 700 youth leaders across the 8 Local Government areas of the state for a yet to be announced political party.
