Two suicide bombers suspected to be members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect attacked a Chadian army camp on Wednesday, August 26.
According to security sources, who blamed the attack on Boko Haram, the suicide bombers blew themselves at the entrance of the army camp.
An officer at the Kaiga Ngouboua base in the Lake Chad region, who spoke to Reuters said: “The two kamikazes tried to get into the camp but were pushed back by the guard so they detonated themselves at the entrance.”
Only the suicide bombers were killed in the attack.
The officer added that a suspected accomplice had been arrested.
Boko Haram has been waging war in Nigeria and neigbouring countries, destroying lives and properties.
Cameroun, Nigeria, Chad and Niger, member states of the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have been in a joint fight against boko Haram terrorists, who have sworn allegiance to ISIS.
On Saturday, August 22, the Chiefs of Defense Staff from the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) and member countries of MNJTF met in N’Djamena, the capital of Chad Republic to deliberate on the deployment of 8,700 soldiers against terror group, Boko Haram.
