The Nigerian army has disclosed that two key members of Boko Haram were arrested in Geidam, Yobe state during a military operation in the region, PM News reports.

This was made known in a statement issued by the spokesperson of the army on Wednesday, August 19, where he explained that the two Boko Haram members were fleeing from soldiers when they were apprehended.
He said they were being interrogated by security operatives. He also disclosed that two pick up vehicles were seize from the insurgents.
The statement also said that the Nigerian air force is conducting surveillance following reports that the dreaded terrorist group is planning an attack in Damasak area of the state. Usman reiterated that the army was committed to ending the war against Boko Haram and promised that peace and security would be restored to Nigeria soon.
He added that the news making the rounds in the media that over a hundred civilians were massacred in Kukuwa-gari, Gujba local government area of Yobe state could not be substantiated.
Meanwhile, some prominent sons and daughters of Akokoland have called for more military check points to be put in place in all the routes around Akokoland, Ondo state as they fear Boko Haram activities might be going on in some parts of the state.
