Speaking after Nigeria’s dire AFCON 2017 qualifier against Tanzania, Babangida begged Nigerians to give head coach Sunday Oliseh time to find an identity for the team.

Speaking to 2muchsports.com, Babangida urged Nigerians to look at the fact that the coaching team is a newly installed one while most of the players were newcomers.
The former Ajax winger also said the new system introduced by the coach will take time to be fully implemented and understood. The former Eagle also said the only way Nigerians can earn call-ups is if they play consistently excellently for their clubs at the top level.
The assistant coach also praised Sunday Oliseh for reading the match against Tanzania by susbstitutiong the ineffectual Lukman Haruna just shy of the 40th minute mark.
He said: “The good thing is that Oliseh can read match. In thirty minutes, he made a change which stabilized the game a bit, and in the second half, the players understood the coach and they played better.
“They were only able to play this after only two training sections. A lot has changed and I think the team did well. Though there are still lots of challenges but all will be changed very soon.”
Meanwhile, Carl Ikeme has reacted to his superb display that helped Nigeria to a goalless draw against Tanzania in Dar es Salaam.
