Akpabio's Accident: American Envoy May Be In Trouble

The American envoy whose vehicle was involved in a head-on collision with ex-governor of Akwa Ibom state, Godswill Akpabio, may have courted trouble following the incident.
This is coming following reports that the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said it was investigating the circumstances that led to the accident.
Godswill Akpabio, a former goveronor of Akwa Ibom, has since flown abroad for further treatments on injuries that he sustained during the accident
According to Premium Times, FRSC’s head, media relations and strategy, Bisi Kazeem, investigations into the actual cause of the accident, for which the senator has been flown abroad for treatment.
“The accident and investigation team of the FRSC, was immediately deployed to the scene of the crash for investigation,” he said, adding that the outcome of the investigation would determine the next line of action the FRSC would take on the matter.
The accident which happened on Monday, occurred near the Bolingo Junction, close to the Ship House, Abuja after the ex-governor’s driver reportedly disobeyed traffic light, and rammed into another car belonging to the American embassy.
Akpabio, who was said to be travelling in a convoy of vehicles towards the City Gate when the accident occurred, was subsequently hospitalised at the National Hospital, Abuja and later discharged Monday evening.
The governor has since travelled abroad for further treatments on the injuries he sustained during the incident.
