Bakare Gives Interview On PMB, GEJ

Tunde Bakare, a Nigerian Prophetic-Apostolic pastor, has revealed what he knows about some of Nigeria’s leading political figures.

Bakare, who is pastor of the Latter Rain Assembly and one of the conveners of the Save Nigeria Group, has given a no-holds-barred interview to the The Interview magazine.
He disclosed how President Muhammadu Buhari picked him as running mate in the 2011 elections and the role of Bola Tinubu, the national leader at the time of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, later the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the drama that followed.
Azubuike Ishiekwene, the managing director/editor in chief of The Interview, in a statement also cited Bakare as saying: “When I first spoke to Tinubu about it (after Lai Mohammed had come to tell me that the ACN wanted me to persuade Buhari to be the party’s flagbearer), he (Tinubu) said, ‘the greatest mobiliser in the South West will be his running mate.’”
Bakare told how ex-president Goodluck Jonathan’s follower, Godswill Orubebe, chased him with a $50,000 “gift”, and he attributed Jonathan’s eventual failure to his lack of ability.
“At best, he worked with some botanical things before his odyssey to fame and power,”the pastor said.
In an interview that he would later say “drained him of virtue”, Bakare did not mince his words about the leadership tussle in the south west, the challenges before Buhari and his potential role in Buhari’s administration.
There was speculation during the last presidential election that Bakare had been paid an undisclosed amount of money to campaign against Jonathan, although Bakare vehemently denied taking a bribe.
