A famous Islamic cleric in the South East, Adam Idoko, has been kidnapped in Enugu state, Premium Times reports.
Idoko, who doubles as the Chief Imam of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and also the deputy-secretary general of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) was kidnapped on Thursday, September 11, in his village, Ogrute Enugu-Ezike in Nssukka.
The Chief Imam of Nagazi-Uvete Jumu’at Mosque, Okene, Kogi State, Murtada Gusau, who confirmed the incident said the Muslim community had reported the incident to the police.
Also speaking on the incident, the police public relations officer of the Enugu state police command, Amaraizu Ebere, confirmed the kidnap, adding that the command was investigating the matter.
He said: “We got useful information related to the abduction, which we would not want to tell the press now. But I can assure you that the command is doing its best on the matter.”
