The Ogun State Police Command has arrested some suspected armed robbers who robbed and raped some innocent people of the state while acting on a tip off that the robbers were sighted at Molipa/Ikanga area in Ijebu Ode about5:30am on Saturday.
The police operatives attached to Igbeba Division of the command swung into action immediately the information got to them and rushed to the said area where the suspected armed robbers opened fire on the police operatives who responded with heavy fire power which curtailed the men before eight(8) of them were arrested.
In a statement released o Sunday and signed by the state Police spokesman,DSP Muuiwa Adejobi,the police disclosed that the leader of the group, one Ayomide Muruf,alias Sucker, sustained bullet wound in the gun battle.
Other members of the gang arrested included Kayode(Surname yet unknown)alias Small,Tunde Ruben,m,Tomiwa Adekoye,m,Adeyemi Adegoke,m,Kufe Emmanuel,m,Moses Udoh,m, and Akeem Adenrele,m,alias Polo while some of the robbers escaped with bullet wounds.
In addition,two suspected armed robbers ,Demola David,m,and Dare Oladunjoye,m,were arrested at Olisa Street,Ijebu Ode same day.
These suspected armed robbers have been identified as killers of one Alayande Oladipo,who was shot dead in Ijebu Ode on 25th August and those responsible for the robbery and rape cases at one Amazing Grace Hospital in Ijebu ode on same date.
The suspects had robbed patients and staff of the said hospital and raped some of them during their operation at the hospital.
The Commissioner of Police Ogun State,CP Abdulmajid Ali,has commended the police operatives who were involved in this successful operation; and directed that the suspects be transferred to the Special Anti Robbery Squad Abeokuta for further Investigation prosecution.
He also ordered that the fleeing members of the gang be apprehended with immediate effect. The Police boss also assured the good people of Ogun State of adequate security for lives and property in the state.
Meanwhile, a four man robbery gang yesterday, September 5, invaded the residence of youth corpers serving in Ogun state located behind the Development Centre, Presidential Boulevard, Abeokuta.
