Power Outage Distrupts Senate Investigative Hearing

The ongoing Probe into power sector by Senate Adhoc Committee on Power was crippled on Wednesday by persistent power failure at the venue of hearing even as the Chairman, Abubakar Kyari promised to investigate motive behind power failure when the hearing was going on.

The investigative hearing  which commenced at 11am at the senate experienced power outage eight times for about thirty minutes which forced operators from Power sector to use their pone light and video camera light to make presentation before the Committee.
Despite this, the lawmakers to continued to have the meeting without microphones and other electrical appliances needed. The camera men had to use their studio lights to capture the meeting.
Meanwhile, Mr Kyari stated that the money spent on the power sector in the last 16 years would exceed 2.7 trillion naira.
According to him, he stated that it is because the amount in the public domain came from only the ministry of power and the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) and at the end of the hearing, the total figure will be provided at the public hearing.
