The Lagos central senatorial constituency office on Wednesday, September 9, organised the 15th edition of Senator Oluremi Tinubu, town hall meeting at Shell Muson Hall, Lagos, to serve as an interface between the people and its constituency’s leaders.
The town hall meeting is Sen Oluremi Tinubu’s first since she was re-elected to represent the senatorial zone in the 8th Assembly. The theme of the meeting which was tagged “New Chapter, Hope Renewed” is pregnant with meaning, Tinubu said as she delivers her speech.
She urged members of her constituency to brace up for the challenges ahead as the party dedicates its energy to making Nigeria better.
“We all craved for a better Nigeria and worked towards it as manifested by the result of the last general election, which saw our great Party APC emerging victorious at the State and National levels.
This is the time for us to rededicate ourselves to get Nigeria to our “promised land” – it is time to differentiate the goat from the sheep and the wheat from the chaff. All hands have to be on deck to achieve that “new Nigeria” we voted for,” she said.
She also advised women to stop corruption from home by rejecting corrupt proceeds from their husbands.
“It is time to turn a new leaf; it is time to change from the old ways of doing things. Let us all shun bribery, corruption and respect the rule of law, let us not be an accomplice in crime, as the Sultan of Sokoto admonished women recently to refrain from collecting ‘proceeds of corruption from their husbands’. I believe we can all make the necessary sacrifice,” she said.

Sen Tinubu then went ahead to give account of her stewardship so far in the 8thAssembly, informing her constituents at the gathering that some of the projects embarked upon in the 7th Assembly will still be continued.
“I have not been assigned a Committee yet, but I hope to give you more information that is concrete at the next Town Hall meeting when all the Committees would have been constituted.
“Some of our Constituency development projects for Lagos Central Senatorial District that we started in the 7th Senate are ongoing and receiving attention. They include the drug rehabilitation centre and Oke Ira Nla Model Market Ajah amongst others.
“In line with legislative practice and procedure, I have analyzed 2015 budget and extracted all projects and services to which funds are appropriated in Lagos Central Senatorial District to ensure such projects are implemented,” she said.
Meanwhile, a media aide to the senator, Mr Olusegun Adegbenro has described Oluremi Tinubu as one of the leaders with a responsive heart. Referring to the senator, Adegbenro who took to facebook to express himself said: “Not all elected leaders have a heart to be responsive, responsible, accountable and transparent to the people as much as we have lately seen. This is alien to our democratic principles, but when you see one, you know by his/her intents.”
Oluremi Tinubu is the wife to the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The husband is regarded as one of the engine rooms that helped President Muhammadu Buhari into power.
