Two Arrested Over Death Of Policemen

Policemen attached to Special Anti-robbery squad, Lagos state police command have arrested two persons in connection with the murder of four policemen at the Ikorodu area of the state.

It would be recalled that four policemen were killed last weekend when suspected vandal ambushed and killed the policemen at the Ishawo area of the state.
It was however gathered that the special anti-robbery policemen in a swift reaction arrested two suspects last week and they are helping the policemen to get to the bottom of the murders.
Residents however call on the police authority and the government to set up more police presence in Ikorodu and environs.
A resident who requested anonymity said: “What happened with the killing of the policemen is a tip of the iceberg of what we have been experiencing. The vandals are ruthless and nobody dares challenged them. If you want to see the level of vandalism going on in Ikorodu, just take a day off and sit along roads in Igboolomu, Okeke-muti and other communities in Ikorodu, these vandals use kegs of jerrycans to siphon fuel from broken pipelines and they ride on okada  and in pick up vans in broad day light.
“Sometimes, especially at night, we will be hearing gun shots and we will not be able to sleep. We implore the police authority and the government to build more police stations and provide vehicles for patrol. Ikorodu communities with more than 500,000 residents have just the Owutu police station. The policemen are not enough to provide adequate security.”
Three policemen were murdered by vandals who stormed the Owutu police station in January this year.
