Workers in Dangote’s factory have downed tools over poor pay and exploitation

Workers of Dangote Cement Company  in Obajana, Kogi state, Monday continued with their ongoing indefinite strike over the refusal of the company to improve on their  welfare and salary.

The workers who have vowed to continue to stay away from work until their demands are met , violently took over the entrance gate on Friday as some management staff were not allowed to drive in.

The  workers who spoke to journalists during the protest at the premises of the company in Obajana, Friday, asked President Muhammadu Buhari to beam its anti graft searchlight  on international businessman, Aliko Dangote for exploiting Nigerian workers.
They begged President Buhari to prevail on the President of Dangote group of companies to implement staff welfare and salary increment which the management has been ignoring.
One of the affected workers who gave his name as Chizoba Kamson said they are the ones doing the work which has put Dangote on the international stage as one of the richest men in the world.
“We have been here working for several years, some have put in 30 years, others 10, 17, 20 yrs. Some of our colleagues take N35, 000, 24,000, 20,000 meanwhile some of the senior management are taking more than N1M and above; yet our wives and children go to the same market and schools respectively.
They said they cannot be slaves in their own land.
“For more than 5yrs the company has been promising us increment and promotion”.
