Indications are rife that the next batch of ministerial nominees to be named by President Muhammadu Buhari might not be out till December 2015.
A chieftian of the party who chose to be anonymous said a section of the party was already upset owing to what he called the“Generals’ hijack” of the first batch of nominees.
President Buhari has reportedly made moves to pacify the aggrieved party chieftains as he is expected to meet with them to enable them to make necessary inputs with regard to the next batch of prospective ministers.
The president however requested for more time so as to accommodate various interests in the next list. He is also reportedly bidding his time to see if the first batch of the nominees will scale through the senate screening billed for next week.
The source said:“Honestly, we are not happy because it is clear that a small cabal has hijacked what we all laboured for; and if care is not taken, we are beginning to get close to what led to the demise of our former party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). “For God’s sake, how can a small clique desire to outsmart the leaders of the party? I mean leaders who spent their resources to build the party.
“Yes we agree that some of them supported us financially and otherwise, but must their consideration take precedence before the party? “We are aware that a certain retired general nominated three ministers from three states; not even our national chairman was considered in Edo State as the nominee was just brought in surreptitiously.
“We have made all the necessary complaints on this matter and I think the president has promised to meet the party leadership as soon as the first batch is cleared and put in place.
“But the import of that is simple; we will wait until the first batch is cleared which I think cannot be earlier than the next two weeks. It will take another one or two weeks for the consultations to be made, if at all. Are we not almost in the middle of November that way?
So it means 15 states will have to wait for the consultations as it were.”
Meanwhile, there are indications that President Muhammadu Buhari has reached out to senators of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in order for his nominees to have smooth sailing at the Senate screening set to begin next week.
In a related development, some APC chieftains whose names are reportedly on the ministerial have started lobbying senators so they can successfully scale the screening process billed for Wednesday, October 7.
Some others are said to have gone spiritual, embarking on intensive prayer sessions to come out unscathed aster the exercise.
