Arms Deal: Why We Have Not Invited Goodluck Jonathan - EFCC Boss

Goodluck Jonathan

The leadership of the anti-graft body, EFCC has responded to questions on why it is yet to invite the former President, Goodluck Jonathan to answer charges concerning the arms deal scam that took place under his administration.
The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, has declared that the war against corruption has just begun, according to P.M news.

He stated this Monday during an interactive session with online journalists in Lagos.

According to Magu, nothing will be left to chance in bringing corrupt elements to justice, whether the persons are highly placed or not, adding that the extent of the looting of the nation’s treasury was mind numbing.

On whether former president Goodluck Jonathan would be invited over the arms scandal, he said Jonathan has not been invited because memos and documents regarding the disbursement of the $2.1 billion indicate that the money was not approved for political campaign.

He said Jafar Isa who was arrested recently for receiving N170 million from former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd), has refunded N100 million and signed an undertaking to refund the balance.

He said in spite of the refund, Isa would still be prosecuted.
