See Jihadi Chemistry Teacher Banned From Classroom for Life Because He Tried to Join ISIS (Photo)

Jamshed Javeed

A jihadi chemistry teacher who had planned to travel to Syria to fight with ISIS has been banned from teaching for life. The radicalised man named Jamshed Javeed was in seclusion for six years after he was arrested before he was able to fly out to the warzone, reports The Sun.

Now, the National College for Teaching and Leadership has met in Coventry and ruled it would not be safe for him to ever return to the classroom. He was formerly a chemistry teacher at Sharples School in Bolton before he tried fleeing to Syria in 2013.

At the panel hearing NCTL chairman Tony Woodward said: "Mr Javeed has been convicted of engaging in conduct in preparation for terrorist acts.

"I agree with the panel that allowing Mr Javeed to teach in the future would present an unacceptable risk of harm to pupils."

The panel had earlier agreed that Javeed had"become radicalised and committed to a violent Jihadist ideology".

The 31-year-old was not represented when the hearing took place on January 14. Javeed was intent on flying to Syria to join ISIS despite his pregnant wife and family begging him not to go.

He had earlier helped his younger brother Mohammed fly to Syria to fight with the terror group. The former teacher was sentenced to six years at Woolwich Crown Court in May last year and is serving a three-year extended term.

He admitted to two terror offences but insisted he was travelling to Syria to support the people there and not to join ISIS.
