Philippino boxer Mannie Pacquiao, who has won world titles in eight different weight divisions, has risked the wrath of the gay community worldwide after he implied gay couples were worse than animals as they (gays) couldn't differentiate the opposite sex from the same sex.
Manny, who is currently running for a senate seat in the country's May elections said this when asked about his views on gay marriages which is against the law in the Philippines.
Pacquiao gave the television interview as part of his campaign for one of 12 seats in the nationally-elected senate.
Filipino comedian Vice Ganda and singer Aiza Seguerra, who are openly gay, have criticised Mr Pacquiao for his comments, calling him a "hypocrite" and a "false prophet". On Tuesday, Mr Pacquiao, posted a picture of himself with his wife on Instagram in an apparent response to the controversy. He said:

"It's common sense. Do you see animals that go male to male or female to female? So the animals are even better," Pacquiao told local broadcaster TV5 in an interview aired this week. "Because they know how to distinguish from male to male or female to female. Right? Now if we allow male to male or female to female, then that makes us worse than animals."It is not the first time, Pacquiao a devout christian has blasted gay relationships and marriages saying his new found faith in Christianity has turned him from a free spending gambler to a devout family man with principles.

"I rather obey the Lord's command than obeying the desires of the flesh. I'm not condemning anyone, but I'm just telling the truth of what the Bible says."
