Nigerian Army kill suicide bomber, Boko Haram fighters



Nigerian Army on Sunday said it has been a fruitful weekend for its troops in the battle against Boko Haram insurgents in North east the country.

Colonel Sani Usman, Acting director, Army Public Relations said troops fighting Boko Haram in various parts of Borno State under the code name Operation Lafiya Dole intercepted and killed a member of the terrorist group on a suicide mission and in another operation, killed seven members of the insurgent group.

The Army Public Relations chief said in a statement that troops of 25 Task Force Brigade ambushed and killed a Boko Haram terrorist suicide bomber at Kumala and Musafanari villages general area on Saturday night, thus effectively saving lives and properties of innocent citizens.

The troops on receipt of information, according to him, laid an ambush for the terrorist at their suspected crossing point and succeeded in intercepting the suicide bomber who was on a suicide mission, from Sambisa general area.

“The bomber paid the price of his wicked activities as he was dealt with decisively.

“The troops recovered a motorcycle, 12 primed Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and a hand bag containing personal effects which included a hijab obviously meant for disguise and concealment of explosives for the intended nefarious act,” said Colonel Usman.

Colonel Usman also informed that troops of 7 Brigade of Nigerian Army early Sunday morning ambushed and killed seven Boko Haram terrorists at Dawashi area of Borno State.

“The gallant troops that laid in wait at the terrorists suspected crossing point engaged them on sight, killed the 7 terrorists and recovered 1 Peugeot Station Wagon loaded with 2,010 litres of Premium Motor Spirit packed in 67 Jerri cans, uniforms, some materiels and Improvised Explosive making Devices (IEDs).

“Others items recovered include, dry cell batteries, 1 AK-47 rifle, tools and fish,” Usman said.
