OFFICIAL NEWS: Remi Garde Leaves Aston Villa

Remi Garde has vacated his role as manager of Aston Villa.

The Midlands club issued a statement on Tuesday evening regarding their decision to part ways with the Frenchman who took charge since early November.

The Villa statement read: "Manager, Remi Garde, has today left Aston Villa Football Club by mutual consent.

"The Club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Remi for all his efforts during a difficult period and wish him well in the future.

"Eric Black will take over as acting manager until the Club appoints a new manager.

"There will be no further comment from the Club at this stage."

The former Lyon boss replaced Tim Sherwood in late October before taking charge of his first match the following month but has been unable to lift the Villans off the bottom of the Premier League table where they have sat for much of the season.
