We Are Very Proud Conte is Joining Chelsea - Marotta


General manager of Juventus Giuseppe Marotta has spoken of his pride at seeing former coach Antonio Conte on the verge of being appointed the next manager of Chelsea.

Conte last week confirmed that he will not be extending his tenure as coach of Italy beyond this summer's European Championship, thus paving the way for him to take over at Stamford Bridge next season.

His appointment has yet to be confirmed by Chelsea despite holding talks with the club last month, with Guus Hiddink currently in charge on an interim basis following Jose Mourinho's departure in December.

"It's not official yet, but this would also be a reward for our decision to appoint him and we are very proud of it," Marotta told Mediaset television.

Conte was hired by Juventus in 2011, after they had finished seventh under Luigi Delneri in what was also Marotta's first season at the club. Conte was an immediate hit, leading the Bianconeri to an unexpected Scudetto without losing a single game and also leading them to the final of the Coppa
