A 26-year-old man who allegedly killed his three-month-old baby by throwing it on the floor in a fit of rage has been arrested‚ Kwazulu-Natal police said on Thursday, TimesLive reports.
According to Police spokesman, Major Thulani Zwane said police had arrested the man in the Ingwavuma area on Wednesday night after receiving information about his whereabouts.
The man has now been charged with murder and will appear in the Ingwavuma Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
Zwane said that on Tuesday morning‚ the man had arrived at the home of the baby’s mother in the KwaMoyana reserve in the Ingwavuma area of South Africa and demanded to take the baby with him to his place.
“The mother refused and he became angry‚ took the child by force and allegedly threw the baby on the floor. The child sustained head injuries and was taken to hospital in a critical condition.”
The baby had later succumbed to her injuries‚ he added.
The suspect had then fled and remained at large until his arrest on Wednesday night.
